Odeon Leicester Sq in London supports Ryan & Emma and La La Land

Another big achievement for Ryan and Emma and La La Land.

The Odeon Leicester Square commissioned 2,000 people with Mortar Research in January 2017 and now.... 2 huge golden statue are displayed in front of the Cinema.

Here below the statement:

• UK film fans back La La Land to win Best Film at The Oscars
• ODEON erects 2.5m tall golden statues at ODEON Leicester Square in support of Hollywood’s golden couple Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone
• Research reveals half of Brits enjoy watching musicals because they’re a refreshing change from the negative news agenda
•  1/5 admit watching a musical has inspired them to take up singing, dancing, or acting lessons

Nearly HALF (44 per cent) of UK film fans are backing the musical La La Land to win big at The Oscars this year, with over a third (35 per cent) wanting Ryan Gosling to pick up the coveted Best Actor prize and 37 per cent backing Emma for the prestigious Best Actress gong.

To celebrate this surge of support, ODEON – Europe’s largest cinema group – has installed two giant golden Oscar-style statues of Hollywood’s darlings and stars of the hit-film, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, in the week leading up to The Oscars.

The 45kg statues, which took over 360 hours to build and stand at 2.5m tall, will sit proudly on ODEON Leicester Square’s balcony in support of the golden couple right up until The Oscars, which take place this Sunday 26th February.

The ODEON Awards report, which polled 2,000 British film fans ahead of The Oscars, also found that nearly half of Brits (45 per cent) enjoy watching musicals such as La La Land, because they’re a refreshing change from the current negative news agenda.

Over a third (36 per cent) of Brits cited the enjoyment of being able to immerse themselves into a different world and escape the day-to-day realities, whilst 33 per cent revealed how musicals are a pleasant reminder of how classic Hollywood and cinema used to be.

The report also showed the effects of La La Land fever as 1/5 (21 per cent) admitted that watching a musical such as La La Land has inspired them to take up singing, dancing, or acting lessons – echoing the inspirational themes of the film.

To get a taste of Oscars glory themselves, ODEON has installed an empty plinth at its flagship Leicester Square cinema for guests to mimic Ryan and Emma’s pose and share with @ODEONCinemas using #ODEONStatues. The plinth will be situated in the upper foyer of ODEON Leicester Square until the Oscars takes place on Sunday night.

Andy Edge, Commercial Director at ODEON UK & Ireland, said: “La La Land has evidently lifted the spirits of the British public, which is why we wanted to celebrate their support for Hollywood’s new ‘golden’ couple – right at the home of UK cinema.

“Awards season is always such a magical and exciting time for the world of cinema and it’s been fantastic to see the effects La La Land has had on our guests, inspiring Brits all over the country to put on their dancing shoes!”

The statues and plinth are now installed at ODEON Leicester Square and will be available to see and take pictures with until Sunday night (26 February).
